FOX NEWS- LIES, LIES, LIES --See For Yourself (part 1 of 2) The Telecommunications Act of 1996 specifically restricts Corporate ownership to 49.7% (not 49.6 or 49.8) because that's exactly what Rupert Murdock and NewsCorp owned at the time. That's when the restriction of ownership of TV and Newspapers also went out the window. Hence the birth of Fox News, since they no longer had to classify their programs like "Hard Copy" and "A Current Affair" as "Infotainment".
